Johannes Ferrarius Montanus

1485/6–1558

Alternative Names

Johannes Ferrarius; Joannes Ferrarius, Montani

Biography/Description

J. devoted most of his life to the newly-founded university of Marburg. His legal writings are serious, but the fact that he changed his name and added ‘Montanus’, probably a reference to his place of birth, suggests that he was not without a lighter side.
