Biography/Description

Promoted doctor in utroque iure by Simon de Borsano, Egidius taught law at Avignon and also in Italy. In 1374 Gregorius XI named him Auditor litterarum contradictarum, a position he held until 1382. Egidius was made bishop of Lavaur in 1383, and of Le Puy in 1390; in 1392 he was transferred to Avignon by pope Clemens VII. Egidius participated in diplomatic missions to the French court in 1394 and 1397. He died in Avignon.
