Biography/Description

Born c.1320, Johannes studied canon law at Bologna under Paulus de Liazariis. He received a doctorate in canon law in 1351 and became the ordinary lecturer on the Gregorian Decretals, the extraordinary on the Sext and the Clementines, the same year. Since 1352, he appears as doctor utriusque iuris. J. was also engaged in civic business and politics in Bologna, which was rewarded with the Bolognese citizenship in 1378. He died in 1383.
