Johannes Hispanus de Compostela

fl. 1223–1261?

Alternative Names

Johannes Hispanus de Petesella; Johannes Compostellanus; Jean d’Espagne; Jean Espagnol de Petesella

Biography/Description

Appears as a teacher of canon law at Bologna in 1223. He later went to Padua (1229), but returned sometime before 1244. A document from 1261 places a magister Johannes Yspanus in Decretis in Vicenza, but, given the late date, it is uncertain whether this Johannes is one and the same.
