Attending at the Cockpit bet. 9 & 10 oClock in the Morning first by 
myself and afterwards with Doctor Johnson to endeavour to get die 
Cause appointed for Thursday sevennight when his Lordship was 
not willing to put it off so long and Attending with the Doctor on 
the Councel at Westminster to inform them thereof & agreed the 
Consultation appointed for this Evening should be put off And that 
it would be best to apply to the Chancery to dispense with the Attendence 
of the Atty General M r Wedderburn and M r Jackson in 
that Court on some particular Day that they might be able to Attend 
this Cause and afterwards Attending Attorney General to inform him 
thereof all which took us up till between one and two o'Clock 13. 4 
21 st . June Attending with D r . Johnson at Westminster Hall on 
M r Dunning and Stated to him the Necesity of his being fully prepared 
for fear of M r Attorney Generals not being able to Attend the 
Hearing and to Consider about having another Consultation and 
afterwards Attending

for the 26 th . Instant and afterwards attending, the other Councel 
to give them Notice thereof all which took up several Hours 13. 4.

23 d . Attending at the Cockpit to enquire whether L a president had 
fixed any time for hearing the Cause & after waiting there sometime 
till M r Cottrell returned from his Lordship & was informed that his 
Lordship had appointed next Thursday peremptorily and afterwards 
Attended M r Wedderburn M r Jackson and M r Dunning at Westminster 
Hall to Acquaint them of the same when 1 was directed to 
wait on the Attorney General to give him Notice of this Matter and 
Attending at his House for that purpose in my way Home but he 
was so ill he could not be seen and Attending at his House again in 
the Evening and was then told that he hoped to be well enough 
to Attend 13. 4. 
26 th . June Attending from 8 oClock in the Morning till 5 oClock 
in the Afternoon at M r Attorney Generals & upon the other Councel 
and afterwards with D r Johnson at the Cockpit to get the Cause put 
off on Account of the Attorneys Generals illness but could not And it 
was agreed that the Consultation for this Evening shod stand and 
be had at M r Wedderburns Chambers to consider how to Act 13. 4. 
Attending at the Consultation w n . it was determined that this Cause 
shoud not come on without the Atty
